Year 5 could not believe their eyes this morning when they saw the mysterious object on the playground. Many children had heard strange noises in the middle of the night and decided that these must be connected to the incident this morning.

Gaelic Football
Year 5 enjoyed their PE lesson today. For the next few weeks the children will learn how to play Gaelic Football.

Volcanoes!
As part of our instruction week, the children are making their own volcanoes. They have been following instructions on how to build a volcano and will be erupting them soon!

Play Your Cards Right!
This week the children have been focusing on instructions in their literacy lessons. They have compared different types of instructions and discussed what features instructions need. The children also played some card games following instructions.

Something Spooky Going On!
This morning the Year 5 came to find their classroom had been covered in cobwebs, spiders and bats! Thunder echoed around the classroom as the children set to work writing their own spooky…

Hola!
Year 5 enjoyed their Spanish lesson today. They met their new Spanish teacher Mr Romeo. The children will have Spanish lessons every Tuesday.

Chalky Subtractions!
To find the difference between two totals, Year 5 used the finding the difference method. They drew empty number lines on the playground with chalk to show their understanding.

Gorgeous Gruel!
Year 5 ate gruel today as part of their work on Victorians. The children have been learning about the workhouse because Jim Jarvis in Street Child (the class novel) has just been taken there. Surprisingly some of the children liked the gruel.

P4C - Philosophy for Children
Year 5 enjoy their Philosophy lessons. This week the children listened to the story of Adam and Eve. They then discussed who they thought were at fault in the story. Some children said Eve, others said Adam, and God and the Snake were mentioned too! Great speaking and listening skills Year 5!

European Language Day 2013
Year 5 had a great time this afternoon at St Antony's. They learnt about different languages, food from around the world and were tested on their knowledge of capital cities!

Think Friday
Every Friday children are presented with a mathematical problem. They work in pairs/groups to talk about the problem and decide which strategy to use. This weeks problem was particularly challenging however eventually it was solved!
