Hello Year 5!

I hope you’ve all had a good weekend.

As we approach the end of the year, I have been reflecting on our time together and I’ve created a little collage of memorable occasions from the year: from class liturgies and a moving remembrance assembly to enjoyable trumpet lessons that culminated in a fantastic concert.

At the start of Year Five, we could never have predicted the strange times that we have gone through since March! You are living through a moment in history that will be looked back upon for many years to come.

So many of you have worked hard to continue your learning at home and that makes me very proud. What have been your greatest achievements? What was your favourite topic?

During the year, I loved the work we did on the Victorians and our fabulous trip to Quarry Bank Mill. I was very proud of you all that day, especially when the staff there told me they had been delighted to work with such a well behaved and knowledgeable group of children.

What have you missed most about being in school?

Of course, as well as looking back on the year that has gone, this is also a time to look forward to the future. What do you want to achieve in Year 6? It is such an important year, as you prepare for high school. What will you need to work on to reach your goal?

Your final week’s home learning plan is now on the website. I am looking forward to seeing you on Wednesday, when we can enjoy a day together and have a mini sports day with Year 4/5. You will also have the chance to collect any belongings that you left in school. Please remember to bring a plastic bag with you for all your things.

Finally, this will be the last letter that I send you before the summer holidays and your transition to Year 6. I have really enjoyed teaching you this year - it is such a shame that our time together was cut short.

Have a lovely break and we wish you all the best of luck next year and beyond
