Hello my lovelies,
These weeks seem to be passing so quickly and as they do i’m missing all of you even more each week and need our school routines back!
I think it’s the beginning of week 8 or 9!!! What I do know is that in ordinary times, this would be the week that I know SO many of you (us) were SO looking forward to...we should have been packing our suitcases, bags and rucksacks to go on your residential. However, it’s not safe for us and the most important thing is that we keep you safe! If we had been away, it would have been an opportunity for you to try something new - that you wouldn’t have had a chance to do in school. A bit like now. I know so many of you are trying lots of different things that you wouldn’t normally be able to do if we were in school. I have heard of new hobbies, sports, instruments and skills being learnt, especially cooking. My family and I are of no exception. My eldest daughter has been making face coverings on her sewing machine and Annie has been building up her running stamina with her Dad. I’ve been practising ‘Dutch plaits’ on my girls. You all know how much I admired your clever relatives who produced such neat plaits in the hair of some of you guys. My daughters are very kind and have encouraged me with lots of praise however the plaits are far from perfect but i’ve not given up and get better each time. Practice! Practice! Practice! And boys - If you were in my house- you wouldn’t be safe either! Mr Jones finally decided the time had come to get his hair cut!!! Which I am sure some of you reading this will have had a trim too and know how tricky this could be. Despite NEVER doing this before it went OK (ish)! We all had a bit of a scare when the clippers made a very loud noise when it tangled up some of his hair but we persisted and it turned out alright in the end (just a few tuffs at the back, but don’t tell him!!!). If you’d have told me i’d be cutting hair two months ago I’d never had believed you but i’m glad I did it now. What new things have you already tried that you’re proud of? Why not ‘Make TODAY the day to learn something new!’ Maybe it could be something that you have never done before or something that you don’t find easy ( like my plaits) that you have to work at, maybe it could be a new book you’ve always wanted to read but not had the chance or watch a video to show you how to do something better. Whatever it is have a go, don’t give up and above all try and smile while you do it too!
This past week I have been delighted to have heard from some of you! It was Florence’s and Cole’s birthday on Thursday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! And when I went into school last Thursday, I had an absolutely gorgeous surprise of the most heart warming letter from one of you which was so lovely and really cheered me up at a time I was really missing you all. I enjoyed writing a letter back too (which I loved). Another fantastic surprise was that I had an impressive ‘meerkat story’ emailed to me at school. It was such a pleasure to read your work again and reminded me of how much I am missing us all learning together. So remember please send anything to school that you’d like me to see and when we get back together I want us to share the work, experiences and skills that we’re proud of with each other.
This week I shall be getting in touch again so if they’re is anything you’d like to tell me or ask then please don’t hesitate.
Don’t forget the online learning too for a change. I’ve been completing some of the Oak National Academy lessons at home with my girls that they’ve found even more useful than the BBC Bitesize activities as the videos directly relate to the lesson.
Also if you have been missing Spanish, Yolanda has posted some Spanish lessons for you to complete:

Stay safe, Year 6.
Missing you lots,
Mrs Jones and Mrs Stanley xx
