Hello again everyone!
I cannot believe that a week has passed since since our first letter. Hopefully, that means it won’t be long now till we are all together again. I hope you have all managed to stay safe, happy and well during this special week.
Despite not being in school for Holy Week, I hope you have still managed to be reflective and celebrate Easter with your family this weekend. Did you see Pope Francis’s Easter Mass live from the Vatican on Sunday morning? It seemed very strange with no congregation. That might be why Father Ged has asked for you to send photographs of yourselves to him to place on his pews so when he streams masses from St Ann’s he will have your friendly faces looking back at him. It would be lovely to see you in his virtual congregation!
Did you all keep your Lentern Promises? Mine seemed even harder to keep without your support. But I DID IT! and I rewarded myself with a couple of biscuits with my coffee yesterday and a packet of crisps today:they tasted even better than they used to! Did you receive any eggs this year? Or even better did you have to hunt them out? I hope you’ve not eaten them all yet??
Thursday is quickly becoming my FAVOURITE day of the week! Not only is it one of the days I get to come into school and see some of you. and catch up with some of the other members of the staff (from a distance of course), it has also become the night, at 8pm, that my family, neighbours and I all come out of our houses to join in a national show of unity to ‘CLAP FOR OUR CARERS’. Have you also been joining in? Has there been any unusual pots and pans, instruments being played too? Mrs Stanley had a string quartet on her road! Mrs Ali will be VERY impressed. The key workers in our community are doing such an outstanding job in the NHS and to keep our daily lives running as normal as possible. If you would like to make even more of a difference, then please consider sending letters to the NHS staff who are staying away from their families at Hotel Football. They would love to receive letters to come back to after a long shift to encourage them and cheer them up. If they are as thoughtful and heartfelt as your Reception Buddies letters, then I know how uplifted the carers will be! (Address can be found on Mrs Evans’s 6E Blog page)
Thursday also seems to be the day that I hear impressive feedback from you, your parents and Mr Mountcastle about how hard you are working even though you are not in school. I never doubted how mature, responsible and motivated you would be in managing your own learning as I had watched you grow into the confident, independent learners that you had become throughout school. It could not make me ( or I’m sure your parents) prouder that you are continuing your studies so responsibly at home! These are exactly the skills required for success in your high schools too. So keep up the good work Y6!!! I’m counting on you!!!!
Stay safe, love Mrs Jones & Mrs Stanley
