Dear Parents
Thousands of children in poverty will wake up to a Christmas without presents this year. There are a growing number of children in Manchester where Christmas is not a happy time; they don't all wake up to a morning filled with presents and excitement. Save the Children have identified Greater Manchester as having the highest levels of severe child poverty outside London. 1 in 3 children are living in poverty across our city. That's why Key 103 Cash for Kids have launched Mike & Chelsea's Mission Christmas.
Last year the people of Greater Manchester helped Key 103 and Cash for Kids collect 847,000 toys and gifts, which meant that thousands of children in our community woke up to a gift they were not expecting.
This year as a school we have decided to join this fantastic appeal to help children in our own area this Christmas. We're asking you to buy just one more extra present this year - a gift that will be given to a disadvantaged child to make their Christmas morning that little bit brighter. We're looking for new and unwrapped gifts suitable for children and young people aged 0 - 18 years old. It can be a great way for our school to engage in a fun Christmas activity that will also teach our children about helping others and being a good citizen.
Please help to make a difference this Christmas.
Love from
St Hugh of Lincoln School Council
